Not for me. The chute not opening damage depends on your recovery surface and mine is usually a sod farm, so landings on soft dirt usually don't have too much damage. Worse for me is damage from Catos (burned or blown up rocket) or landings in trees or a river. It's hard to judge without seeing pics and seeing the chute being used.
